A 5GHz tunable Injection Locked Oscillator for wireless applications

In this paper, a low power 5GHz Injection Locked Oscillator (ILO) is presented. This ILO has been fully implemented in a 0.25µm SiGe BiCMOS technology and is dedicated for wireless applications. The use of body effect provides a tunable oscillator in order to control the free running oscillation. Under 1.8V supply and at 5.2GHz, the core of the ILO consumes 9mW for a -114 dBc/Hz phase noise at 100 kHz from the carrier and offers 400 MHz synchronization bandwidth.
